Starting sLockBox the very first time

When you first go into Simple LockBox you will be prompted to enter a password for your new Simple LockBox.

IMPORTANT NOTE: In order to sync with the desktop apps you will need to enter the same password you used when starting off the desktop app experience and vice versa.

Simple LockBox Features

Give you exactly what you need to start off

After you enter your password to start your Simple LockBox experience you will click the + (plus) sign to add a new item. In my experience since 2004, when I first created this application for my smartphone (windows mobile), is that most people including myself just want to be able to get into their websites fast and easy and store other private information.

Default New Item(s)

The default new item for Simple LockBox provides a Description, Website (www.), User ID, Password, and Notes. Everything you need for basic website log-in and additional information.

If you need Account No. all the time, you can go into Settings and turn ON the Display Account No. and it will be added all the time or click the Add Customizable Item and select Account No. to add it quickly.

Also, if you go to the Settings screen you can enter a default User ID that will be used for every New Item created.

Website (www.) Feature

When you enter a website, Simple LockBox is smart enough and will help you with entering less for the website. For example, if you enter usatoday.com it will automatically add http://www. in front to make it http://www.usatoday.com saving you time and space inside of Simple LockBox.

NOTE: If you have a website for example http://myplace.com you would need to place the http:// so that Simple LockBox doesn't place http://www. in front of myplace.com

Direct Web Access

Once you have enter a website into Simple LockBox, you have multiple ways to get to the website. If you are in the Lock Box Item Information screen you can simply click the blue disclosure arrow or you can click the same blue disclosure arrow from the main list.

NOTE: You must enter a Website (www.) in order for it to show up as a blue disclosure arrow in the main list.

Customizable Item(s)

Simple Lockbox provides several types of customizable items you can add to your Lock Box Item Information screen quickly. Just click the Add Customizable Item and you will be presented with a list of pre-defined types to choose from.

Pre-defined Types

  1. 4 Digit PIN - This will create a 4 digit pin type of item.
  2. *Account No. - This will add a Account No. type of item.
  3. Combination - This will add a combination type of item.
  4. Credit Card Info - This will add the following credit card info types of items.
    1. Card No.
    2. Expiration Date
    3. 3 Digit CSC
    4. Name
  5. Date - This provides a date type of item for entering dates that contains a date button for quick date entry.
  6. Email Address - This provides an email type of item.
  7. Insurance Info - This will add the following insurance types of items.
    1. Policy No.
    2. Group No.
    3. Insured
    4. Phone No.
  8. *Password - This provides for a secure password type of item that contains a info button, show, and copy buttons.
  9. Phone No. - This provides for a phone number type of item.
  10. Secure Field - This provides for a secure item that contains a show and copy buttons.
  11. Software Info - This will add the following software items.
    1. Product Key
    2. Date Purchased
  12. *Website (www.) - This provides for additional website type of item.
  13. *User ID - This provides for a User ID type of item.
  14. Vehicle/License Info - This will add the following vehicle/license items.
    1. License No.
    2. VIN
    3. Date Purchased

    * NOTE: If you remove these items from the top part of the Lock Box Item Information screen you can easily add them back using the Add Customizable Item button.

    NOTE: If you think there should be other pre-defined types that are not in this list that you use all the time, then email me and I will consider it for addition to the next update.

-- Add Other Type --

If you don't find a particular pre-defined type, you can create your own by clicking the -- Add Other Type -- found in the Add Customizable Item list and it will go to the Edit Custom Item screen allowing you to define your special item. Below explains each part of the Edit Custom Item screen.

Edit Custom Item

  1. Name Of Item - Enter the title that will be displayed in the Lock Box Item Information screen.
  2. Value - Once you enter the Name Of Item you will immediately see the title as it will be displayed in the Lock Box Item Information screen. Now enter the value you wish to store here.
  3. Display In Main List? - Select whether the item should be displayed in the main list screen.
  4. Type Of Item - Select the type of item you wish to create.
    1. Plain (Default) - This is the default plain text field for entering anything in this type of item.
    2. Date - This provides a date type of item for entering dates and contains a date button for quick date entry.
    3. Email Address - This provides an email type of item.
    4. Name/Phone - This provides an text entry for name/phone type of item.
    5. Number - This provides a number type of item for entering numbers.
    6. Numbers & Punctuation - This provides for numbers and punctuation type of item.
    7. On/Off switch - This allows you to add an on/off switch as a type of item.
    8. *Plain Secure - This provides for a plain secure type of item that contains a show and copy buttons.
    9. Phone No. - This provides for a phone number type of item.
    10. *Secure No. - This provides for a secure number type of item that contains a show and copy buttons.
    11. *Secure Password - This provides for a secure password type of item that contains a info button, show, and copy buttons.
    12. Website (www.) - This provides for additional website type of item.
    13. User ID - This provides for a User ID type of item.

    * NOTE: These fields will never display in the main list because of sensitivity.

  5. Capitalization - Select the type of capitalization style you wish to use for this item.
    1. None (Default) - No capitalization occurs.
    2. Words - Capitalize the first letter of each word.
    3. Sentences - Capitalize the first word in a sentence.
    4. All Characters - Capitalize all letters.
  6. Autofill On Webpage - Check this if you need to use this field as an autofill field on web pages. Some websites for example:Bank Of America have additional values you need enter in order to fully autofill the required values so you don't have to enter them in yourself. See Grab Feature below

    7. Grab Feature

    NOTE:If you go to a website that has additional fields that need to be used for autofill you can use the Grab button feature in the browser and new Custom Item fields will be created for you automatically. Make sure you enter the values on the web page before clicking the Grab button.

  7. id - If you know the element on the web page, enter the name here. Most likely you will not know the web page element so use the Grab button feature and this value will be entered in for you. Make sure you enter a value on the web page of interest before clicking the Grab button.

    8. NOTE: To edit a Customizable Information field just click on the label to bring up the Edit Custom Item screen.

Advanced Searching

In the main list you will see the Search text box. By entering that text box it gives you three options for finding particular items of interest.

  1. Description - This will only search the Description field of your items.
  2. Shown - This will only search what is visible in the main list.
  3. Notes - This will only search the Notes field of your items.

Password Generation

The Password field of the Lock Box Item Information screen is a simple but powerful feature of Simple LockBox.

If you click the i - Info button it will show the Password Information screen allowing you to generate a new complex password with several options.

  1. Generated Password - This is the text box that the password will be generated which you click the Generate Password button. You can change the generated password to fit your needs like if a web page doesn't allow certain characters.
  2. Length - Use the slider to adjust the size of the generated password or enter the Length in the text box.
  3. Special characters? - If the web page does not accept these special characters then you would want to turn OFF before clicking the Generate Password button.
  4. Duplicate characters? - If you would like duplicate characters to be generated (Max is 3 per character) turn ON before clicking the Generate Password
  5. Save Generated Password - To save the password for this field you must click the Save Generated Password button and confirm you wish to overwrite the current password.

    6. NOTE: Clicking Done will NOT save the generated password. You must click the Save Generated Password button to store the generated password.

    NOTE: You can set the default Max Duplicate Characters of 2 or 3 and Default Password Length in the Settings screen.

Web Page Auto-fill

The web page auto-fill feature provides the ability to autofill User ID and Password for your Lock Box Item Information into the web browser when opened.

To enable the autofill feature, go to the Settings screen and turn ON the Autofill UserID/Password.

Grab Feature

Some web pages may have more than just User ID and Password that need to be filled in. For example: Bank Of America may require as State value as well. For those special cases, you can use the Grab button. First enter the values into the fields on the web page and sLockBox will grab those elements from the web page and add them to your Lock Box Item Information screen for you. You can then go into Lock Box Item Information screen and verify each new fields that was added and remove any that are not needed.

Settings

The following are the available settings you can set inside of the Setting screen.

  1. Default UserID - This is the default User ID that is entered on a New Item.
  2. Display Account No. - Then this is ON the Account No. field will be added as part of a New Item.
  3. Lock Timeout - This is the lock timeout value that will lock sLockBox. You can select 1..10 minutes or On Device Lock (Default).
  4. Autofill UserID/Password - This setting controls whether to autofill User ID and Password when going to a web page. Default is OFF.

  5. Device IP Address - This is where you will enter the IP Address of the device you wish to synchronize too. Just click Sync on the device and enter the IP Address here. If Bonjour for Windows doesn't work you will need to go to here and enter the IP Address in order to synchronize with that device.
  6. Port - This where you will enter the port number to synchronize too. Just click Sync on the device and enter the port number here.

  7. Devices - This list will display the devices you have setup to synchronize with thru Bonjour and when you enter the addresses in the Network tab. Here you can select whether to synchronize with these devices by the device and selecting one of the options in the dropdown.

  8. Max Duplicate Characters - This setting determines how many of the same character will be added during password generation.
  9. Default Password Length - This is the default password length size to use for the Password field.
  10. Change Password - Click this to change the password for sLockBox

    11. NOTE: - Make sure you change the desktop apps password for sLockBox in order to Sync your device data to the desktop.
